Aims and Objectives

The ITEC Level 3 Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies is a vocational qualification recognised by Ofqual within the Qualification and Credit Framework. It focuses on the underpinning knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology required by the Complementary, Beauty and Sports Therapy Industries. The qualification is designed to provide a sound platform onto further learning or training leading to occupational competency for employment

The ITEC Level 3 Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies is comprised of 1 mandatory unit. Total credit value required to achieve the qualification is 13.

Recommended guided learning hours – 94, 13 learner credits based on 130 learning hours (1 credit per 10 learning hours)

It also aims:

• to provide knowledge and understanding at Level 3 in the Qualifications and Credit Framework for those interested in the Complementary, Beauty and Sports Therapy Industries

• to provide opportunities for staff in the Complementary, Beauty and Sports Therapy Industries to gain a Level 3 qualification

• to sustain the interest of Learners wanting to work in the Complementary, Beauty and Sports Therapy Industries

• to meet core curriculum of the regulatory bodies at the time of accreditation

The Learner will study the Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology of the whole body.  As Complementary, Beauty or Sports Therapists they will be working in direct contact with the body structures and also require a comprehensive knowledge of diseases and disorders of the human body

Pass – 50 – 74%

Merit – 75 – 89%

Distinction – 90 – 100%

Grading of the Qualification

a. The multiple choice theory question paper is externally assessed and graded Pass, Merit or Distinction

b. Candidates must achieve a pass grade in the mandatory unit assessment to achieve the ITEC Level 3 Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies(see assessment table above)

Recommended Prior Learning

It is recommended that Learners have achieved a level of education equivalent to five GCSEs at grades A*- C prior to commencing the ITEC Level 3 Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies; however exemptions may be made for adult returners with experience of the work place
